Days 54 - 62: Koh Phangan, Back to Phuket, and Total Hell
On our first full day in Koh Phangan, I woke up with that tingly feeling in my throat. You know, the one you get when a cold or something is coming on. Well, it sucked, but I felt fine. We had a great day swimming and hanging out by the pool. But towards the end of the day, I wasn’t feeling right at all.
By the next day, I had a fever. I do not know how high because I didn’t have a thermometer, but I knew without a doubt I had a high fucking fever. I felt terrible and did not want to get out of bed. I also had a bad cough to go along with it. By the next day, I got even worse. We ended up having to skip the Full Moon Party, which was the reason we went to that island in the first place. Day 3…even worse. By then, I was desperate to see a doctor but remember, we were stranded at the hotel and the idea of traveling down that mountain made my nausea even worse. Then the throwing up began and I had the worst sore throat in years. It reminded me of the strep throat days. We had upgraded to a pool villa, but it went to waste because Joe was starting to feel like shit too.
The next day it was time to venture back to Phuket. We took a speedboat back to Phuket this time. Between the boat, airplane, and taxi ride in Phuket, the day was absolute hell for me. I seriously just wanted to die. The first thing we did when we got to Phuket was haul ass to the doctor. Turns out I had a throat infection and he gave me some antibiotics which cleared everything up for me within a few days. Our 4 days in Phuket were mostly spent recovering.
