Day 69: Malaysia
Today we leave Cambodia for good and are off to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Why Malaysia, you may ask? Well, we both decided we wanted to add Bali, Indonesia to our trip, but discovered that it is very cheap to fly there from either Singapore or Malaysia. So we tried to decide which place to use as a gateway to Indonesia - but since both places are only like $15 to fly to, we figured, how about both? So we are in Malaysia for 2 nights and then off to Singapore for 3 nights.
I gotta say, Malaysia is a lot prettier than I thought it would be. Kuala Lumpur is about an hour drive from the airport. At first, there are just tons of tropical looking trees and huge mountains everywhere. Then, when you hit the city.. all of that remains still, but then there are just tons of skyscrapers everywhere. They even have their own twin towers here..which are said to be the largest buildings in the whole world.
Our hotel is extremely nice. Even better, it’s attached to a shopping mall. Today we walked around the mall, and unfortunately it sucks, but the food court has tons of options so thats cool. Tomorrow we have plans to visit the Kuala Lumpur bird park .. it’s the world’s largest aviary.
