Day 66: Off to Siem Reap, Cambodia
We left Phnom Penh today to go to Siem Reap. Most people take a bus or a car to get to Siem Reap. But I say, fuck that. It’s like a 4 hour drive and the roads and driving in this country is just horrible. We would have a great chance in getting in a car accident on the way there lol so we decided to fly - although not as cheap as ground transportation - still very cheap. What was really funny was that there were literally only 10 people on the plane, so it was a bit spooky being on a practically empty plane. It was also the shortest flight I’ve ever been on … only about 25 minutes !!
The first thing I notice about Siem Reap is that it is nothing like Phnom Penh. In fact, it is so different, that you might think you are in another country. Although the poverty thing is still somewhat evident.. garbage, stray cows with their ribs popping out, etc. it is the complete opposite of a large city. It was just forest. Hardly any cars and not very many people, but a lot more tourists. So basically, Siem Reap consisted of tons and tons of forest… lots of temples, and a few gift shops and hotels. THIS IS IT, Lol.
Our hotel was awesome. All our room was missing was a kitchen and it would have been a full sized apartment. We are here for 3 nights, yippie! They also thought it was our honeymoon lol so we got free cake.
