Day 53: Traveling from Koh Samui to Koh Phangan
Today we left Koh Samui to get to Koh Phangan. The only way to get to Koh Phangan is by ferry or speedboat; there are no airports on Koh Phangan. It is a very tiny island, even smaller than Koh Samui.
The ferry ride was nice and cheap, and not too long, either. Once we arrived in Koh Phangan, there was a shuttle waiting for us to take us back to the hotel. We had no idea the drive that was ahead of us.
It was over an hour drive up a very large mountain. Then, it was even more driving back down the mountain, with tons of twists, turns and bumps. The drive took forever and we basically realized that we would be stranded at our resort as it was much too difficult to get into town… but we were okay with that.
The resort was really beautiful, it reminded me of Disney’s Polynesian resort just 1000x nicer. Even a private beach. Our room had a great view and was by far the best hotel room we had been in on our trip.
